Kiplinger’s Retirement Report Says U.S. Living Will Registry is a Good Place  to Store Advance Directives

In the December 2003 Kiplinger’s Retirement Report, a segment on Estate Planning entitled “Paving the Way by Having Your Say”, gave background information and advice about advance directives. Citing the Terri Schiavo case in Florida as a situation to avoid, Kiplinger’s advised their readers to prepare an advance directive, and to consider registering it with the U.S. Living Will Registry to make sure it is available when needed. In the Schiavo case, the courts and state legislature got involved when family members disagreed on how to care for their comatose relative.
